The Band

The Band:

Generation Gap is six member pop/rock band based in Rio Grande Valley, Texas.

The History:

Generation Gap started as a variety band playing local weddings and parties in 2008. Originally started by Don Beste, Danielle Zamora, Daryl Shaun Price and Johnny Maldonado to play for local church and social events, they didn’t come up with a name until after their first gig. Danielle and Shaun, brother and sister, grew up singing together in choirs, talent shows, and other local venues. Shaun and Don had been playing together for fun at home off and on for about 8 years after Shaun married his daughter, so when Don moved closer the three decided to see if they could do something together. Johnny, Shaun, and Danielle went to high school together and reconnected years later when Don, Danielle, and Shaun decided they needed a drummer. This quartet performed several parties and weddings, and decided they needed another guitarist to enhance their sound. Darrin Rogers, joined and Generation Gap started to find its own unique style.

In 2010 Shaun’s divorce, Danielle’s new job and Darrin’s school schedule killed the band’s momentum. Shaun performed in church with Kyline Stephens, an extremely gifted young musician, and invited her to be part of Generation Gap’s rebirth. Danielle left the band due to an overwhelming schedule as a new teacher. Kyline added light airy vocals that affected their future style. The band then invited Dawn Marburger Hopper to join as another vocalist allowing them to integrate tight harmonies into many songs and giving them a unique sound that focuses on the interplay of several voices. Current members are Daryl Shaun Price, Don Beste, Kyline Stephens, Johnny Maldonado, Darrin Rogers and Dawn Marburger Hopper.
